It all started when…

I was eight I joined my local glee club Sound Celebration! I got to sing and dance and be on stage- and after every performance everyone told me how wonderful I was… (I did it for applause applause).

Except when I turned twelve or so I wasn’t that great. In fact, I realized I couldn’t sing in tune… and maybe all that applause before was because I was a cute eight year old. (Please Clap)

But I was still so PASSIONATE about singing. Performing on stage truly felt like my calling - it was a shame I was so terrible at it. My family looked around for Singing Lessons and found my first voice teacher.

Here’s a secret about me….I love learning! I love process - getting in the weeds - the nitty gritty. I channeled all my passion and curiosity into voice lessons and became the multi-hyphenate music theater/opera/pop nerd before you could say Patti Lupone.

Some years and a few high end degrees later- I faced the ups and downs of any ingenue. ( that’s fancy for leading lady). I went from can’t get a solo in a community glee club to solo in every high school concert. Then I went from “dancing handmaid #4” to The Performance Award at Catholic University for singing the leads in both Opera my senior year. ( Did you know Opera is its own plural??).

Part of why I do what I do is because I’ve been there. I’ve been the passionate kid who couldn’t keep a tune in a bucket. I’ve also performed intricate Mozart arias with incredible orchestras in front of thousands. My personal ups and downs connect me to each one of my students who struggle with casting, local theater, and a solid mix.

Speaking of mix, I combine my fancy expert knowledge with my passion for singing and translate it into awesome confidence building relationships with my fellow learners. (see what I did there). It’s like my head voice is the wisdom I’ve gained, my chest voice is my tenacity, and my mix is the confidence that comes with results!

If you’re not sure what that last paragraph means - Let’s talk! Book a discovery call with me and we’ll turn your passion into progress.

** Expert Degrees and Fancy Training- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music (Vocal Performance ) from The Catholic University of America, and a Professional Studies Certificate from Manhattan School of Music (Also Vocal Performance). In 2023, I attended the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University.
This means I’m trained in singing, teaching, and performing Classical styles as well as Pop and Musical Theater.

The Nest Vocal Studio Process

At The Nest Vocal Studio , We promise to guide passionate singers through the process of learning vocal freedom in their desired modalites. Learning to sing is a process and the best learning comes through guided practice. That’s what voice lessons are for! The other piece of the puzzle is independent practice- passionate singers want to do just that- SING! And so they sing around the house and practice what they learn on their own time. Then they bring those little discoveries to our lessons- and together we uncover their unique voices
